Journal records
What the bay writes down, and when each record is written.
Every record the journal holds carries a kind, and a consumer switches on it — the association to decide what a record means, an auditor to find the ones that matter. The complete list is part of the standard rather than an artifact of one engine: 06 §13.
These are not message types. A message is what crossed a wire; a record is what was written down. Several kinds here — a composed shot, a manifest, a superseded participant — correspond to no single message at all.
