Your game, broken into
parts you can fix.
0 to 100, where 100 is tour level.
One number tells you where you stand. The four behind it tell you why. Your rating splits your game into driving, approach, short game and putting, rates each one on its own, and shows you which part is holding the rest back. It changes with each verified round you play, taking into account your strengths and the areas that could use some tweaking.
Then it helps you do something about it. The SGA app turns your rating into tips matched to your own game: where you are giving away the most against players at your level, and what to practice next. Work on one area, play, and watch that rating move.
Your biggest opportunity
Approach shots from 125–150 yards
Try this: pick one target and hit ten balls with the same club, then ten with one club more, and note which finish nearer the pin. Most players at your level come up short from here.
Example tip
Four ratings, not one
See exactly what to practice.
Tee and driving
Tee shots on par 4s and 5s, whatever club you hit.
Approach
Shots into the green, par-3 tee shots included.
Short game
Chips, pitches and bunker play around the green.
Putting
Everything on the green, from lag putts to tap-ins.
Example ratings. Your overall comes from all four, and each stands on its own.
Where you stand
Find out who is really the best in the building.
Your rating ranks you in your home bay, your metro area, your state and your country, against players measured the same way you are.
Example ranks. Rankings start once you have a Provisional rating, and open on the players around you, with the top of the table and your friends a tap away.
Live
Your round, live, shot by shot.
Scan in, pick your name, and play. Every shot lands in the SGA app as you hit it: your group's card, the hole you are on, and where every shot finished, with ball and club numbers wherever the bay's equipment measures them. Nothing to type, nothing to press.
When the round closes it is scored, counted, and your rating moves, with the round showing exactly how far.

How it is earned
It grows into a full rating.
- Provisional5 rounds' worth of holes
- Developing10 rounds
- Established15 rounds
- Full20 rounds
Your latest 20 rounds
Up to 360 holes count. Play more and the oldest drop off, so the rating follows your game as it is now. Early ratings show their margin: five rounds is a guide, not a verdict.
Only rounds a bay can stand behind
Every device that recorded the round has to have proved what it is. A round that cannot is kept on your record but does not move your rating, which is what makes your number comparable with a player's across town.
Moves with every verified round
Each round you finish shows your rating before it, how you played against it, and your rating after, so you can see the practice pay off.
Is it a handicap?
No. It is golf indoors, measured.
World Handicap System
- Golf's system for a Handicap Index
- Built from scores on rated courses outdoors
- Issued by golf's national associations
SGA Player Rating
- The association's own rating for simulated golf
- Built from measured shots in participating bays
- Ranks you in your bay, city, state and country
It is not a Handicap Index, not issued under the WHS standard, and one does not convert into the other.
